Seagate Technology announced a 2.5-inch internal hard disk drive aimed at laptop computers with 250GB of storage capacity. 160GB is the largest drive you can currently get for the MacBook Pro.
The Momentus 5400.4 utilizes a Serial ATA (SATA) 3.0 Gbit/second interface and crams 250GB onto two platters. The drive is rated to 325 Gs of operating and 900 Gs of non-operating shock resistance. The drive uses Seagate’s “SoftSonic” fluid-dynamic bearing motors and “QuietStep” ramp loading technology, both of which provide quiet operation and low power consumption, according to Seagate.
Seagate expects to begin shipping the Momentus 5400.4 in quantity to original equipment manufacturers and system builders in the fourth calendar quarter of 2007. Per-unit pricing was not announced.

Correction you can get a 200GB drive for a MacBook Pro as a BTO option. That’s what I have in my new one. It’s a Toshiba MK2035GSS.

Yes, and you’ve been able to get a 250GB drive for the 17″ MacBook Pro since the Santa Rosa update.
Fujitsu Siemens have also had a 300GB 2.5″ drive out for a while, but it hasn’t seemed to have made it’s way into laptops particularly.
